Why Aren’t More Women Players?

By Natalie Sisson ·

Heads up: this post is from 2011. The ideas hold up, but some tools, prices and links will have moved on since. For Natalie’s current work, head to NatalieSisson.com.

You could read into that title either way. I don’t believe most women play a big enough game, and I know that women aren’t big players – like men.

Let me explain, because I’m pretty damn passionate about this and I’m sure it will raise a few eyebrows. To be honest, there have been too many days lately when I read news that really winds me up. Men and their big macho games, their old boys clubs and their ability to shout from the rooftops about how great they are.

I’ve said it on here before and I’ll say it again, I like men, I have many male friends I think the world of and admire. It’s the others that give them a bad name in my mind, and also give us (awesome women) a bad name too.

I read how they how they’ve revolutionized this, are the first in the world to do that, and are the only guru in this space, in this industry, this country, heck even this universe, who can do this as well as they can. Who the heck are they to say this?

How often do you hear women saying they’re amazing at what they do? And when they are successful, with businesses that earn them a lot of money, they’re potential targets for harassment, not about their business aptitude, but about their sexuality, their looks and their lifestyle.

While Dominique Strauss-Kahn, now ex Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund and potential next French president, comes home to a media tornado after having a reckless sexual encounter with a hotel chambermaid, Count Me In founder Nell Merlino rings the opening bell to raise awareness of the power of women in business. Yes that’s right, on Friday the New York Stock Exchange was celebrating women entrepreneurs.

Two very powerful people making totally different choices in the life they choose to lead, and the example they set to others. I know whose footsteps I’d like to follow in and emulate – and it ain’t some randy, power hungry Frenchie.

Let’s Get Positive

“There is study after study showing what a goldmine women entrepreneurs are across every angle, whether it’s the number of female-owned businesses entering into the economy, or in terms of growth,” says  Kathy Korman Frey, founder of the Hot Mommas Project. “The ways women tend to spend their earnings are an economist’s dream. Women will take money and spend in their communities, so GDP will increase”

Isn’t that great to hear? I think so but it’s always backed up with a BUT. According to Merlino:

“A lot of women suffer from a vision that’s too small”

Like her WE too, Natalie MacNeil and I, want to get women to think about what they would like to accomplish with their businesses if there were no limits.

Yes of course there are limits – both real and imagined. However nobody else is going to ensure we push past them and shoot for the stars than us. It starts with you believing in YOU.

Last week I received an email last week from a man who’s Experts Academy platform I admire, and who I view as one of the few internet marketer’s earning millions who ‘seems’ to be ethical in all his dealings.

Initially I was excited to read that Brendon Burchard has gone ahead and assembled an association of authors, speakers, coaches, seminar leaders, and online marketers who’ve been game changers. A veritable Who’s Who in the `how-to’ advice space.

Megastar names like Jack Canfield NYTimes bestselling author of “The Success Principles” and co-creator of “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series, Darren Hardy, Publisher of SUCCESS Magazine, David Bach, NYTimes bestselling author of “The Automatic Millionaire”, Jeff Walker, creator of the “Product Launch Formula,” and Frank Kern, creator of “Mass Control” and the highest paid internet marketing strategist in the world.

Notice something wrong with this?

Of the 26 listed in his email, just two were women, and one of those was in a partnership with her husband. Abismal. And yet I know for fact, as I’ve witnessed it myself,  that almost all of these men work together – especially the online marketers.

It’s a big boys club of I’ll scratch your back and you scratch mine  as an affiliate, like a recent intro call of Tim to Brendon’s audience that the author of the article I linked to above called` a very disappointing event, WAY too much selling of Ferriss’s $9,000 program’. A program where Tim of course had many of these same men as speakers, and other male online marketers and`big names’.

And you know what – they’re mega successful because of it. And so why the heck aren’t we ladies???

Where’s The New Women’s Club?

When do you see power groups of women holding events with more powerful women and charging a fair sum for it? Not enough that’s for sure.

And while I don’t expect every woman to want this grand, showy kind of success, they do deserve to be recognised for their amazing work, even if only within our own network of women. There needs to a woman’s club that is all about supporting women, but in a hugely motivating way, not an ego boosting one.

In our second video, that you can view once you optin, Natalie and I showcased several amazing ladies with 6 and 7 figure businesses online who are amazing role models for what we can achieve. It’s quite inspiring really. I feel like Natalie MacNeil and I are already making an impact in a much bigger way and it’s all because you want to play a bigger game and live the life you deserve just as much as we want you to.

Yet there are still a few women out there, as well as men, who when approached to be key partners in supporting our launch, respectfully declined. I get that they have their own businesses and launches going on, but we approached them as they regularly state they are big supporters of ensuring more women become successful entrepreneurs. They weren’t willing to put out the word.

It heartened me, then to receive a lovely email of thanks from Jennie in England, who’s recent teleseminar series I supported and was interviewed for. She told me she had a big fat no from a lady she respected and admired, when she asked for her support as an affiliate. Apparently what they both did was too similar and she wasn’t prepared to promote Jennie’s event.

Jenny observed that I could have done the exact same thing as we are both empowering lifestyle entrepreneurs who want to run their business from anywhere.

For me it was a no brainer to support her. She was putting her all in to supporting others’ dreams to live their ideal lifestyle, by interviewing others already doing it. I wanted to support her and others even if it was potentially in `direct competition’ to what I do. I wanted my community to know about her too. I just want more people to live the life they deserve.

Between your dreams and your reality, there is no distance, there is no time.Wake up to your dreams!
