There’s a new powerhouse in town. According to these stats from Intuit women are not only the chief purchasing officers who hold the purse strings well and truly in our hands, we are also the new earners – $13 trillion in yearly earnings to be exact!
We are seeing the emergence of a global “She-conomy”, one which will have a major impact on everything from education to marketing and branding to fertility levels.
Globally one billion more middle class women are expected to enter the economy in the next ten years, in both developing and industrialized nations. This translates into more women with communication skills and leadership styles that resonate with, inspire, and include other women.
In addition, the internet and online world presents a huge growth opportunity for women who have natural networking, communication and socializing skills. This infographic below (although US bias) shows why women entrepreneurs are leading the way on many fronts.
But are women in business really kicking ass?
Dig a little deeper into the facts and you will see that of the 40% of businesses owned by women, 70% of these earned less than $50,000 in revenue last year! We still only earn 70% of our male counterparts’ salaries and we represent only 3% of the angel investor community.
Why are we playing it so small? What’s stopping us from earning what we’re worth? And why are we waiting for permission to build the profitable business and a lifestyle we deserve, when all the global trends point towards our powerhouse status?
I attempted to explain it in my rather provocative blog post `Why Aren’t More Women Playing A Bigger Game‘ that caused a heated and mostly positive debate, and an ensuing conversation on LinkedIn that’s still going on.
It also caused Adrienne Graham at Empowerme to host me on her radio show where, along with Dr Sharon Melnik, I got to speak further on this topic that I’m passionate about: Play Big, Level the Playing Field & Take Action on Views from the Top https://ow.ly/6weRQ
Yes We Can Ladies
Well I’m happy to say that over the last week and a half many women answered that question by stepping up to play a bigger game and joining Natalie MacNeil and I on our WE Mastermind Program where we will be coaching them (and some lovely men that have come along for this 6 month journey) to do just that.
We want to ensure more of you learn the nuts and bolts of setting up an online business based on your sweet spot – the intersection between what you are good at, what you know and what you love doing.
We want you to be part of an elite group of pioneers mastering the online world of business and setting yourself up for a future of wealth, health, and happiness. But it all ends on the 19th September at midnight when we close the doors for this year so if you’re going to take that leap of faith and start playing a bigger game, when would NOW be a good time??
