I’ve heard a lot of great startup stories, but this one may just take the cake.
Kim Overton was working as a personal trainer when she discovered her hidden business potential. After using her bra as a holding place for her keys, she came to the realization that there must be a better way. That evening she went home and created the first ever SPIbelt – Small Personal Item belt.
Back in the gym, Kim’s SPIbelt caught the attention of fellow gym goers and the idea stuck.
Fast forward a few successful years and Kim has branched out globally. She has even expanded her line to include a few more complementary products.
Spanning from North America and Europe to as far as Asia, Australia and New Zealand, SPIbelt has a loyal consumer base. While it’s pretty clear that she made the right decision leaving her job as a personal trainer, I think her attitude about it all is what really resonates with me:
“Attitude has always been, what’s the worst that could happen? You never know until you try.” – Kim Overton
