Here’s a look inside the tribe of the modern day nomads, a group of men and women who have established full time careers working online. Will their secret to freedom, independence, and passive income be revealed?
The nomads of our day are “choose your own adventurers”, men and women traveling and enjoying incredible lifestyles of freedom and independence. They’ve chosen careers as Bloggers and Internet Marketers so that their physical location rarely ever matters. This tribe of nomads consists of many unique personalities, but they all share one main “secret ingredient” in common.
Let’s take a look at just a few of the usual suspects so we can figure out what they share in common.
Tim Ferris
Author of The 4-Hour Work Week and The 4-Hour Body. Blogs about “Experiments in Lifestyle Design”.

He’s been blogging about his battle against the debt, the internet based business he’s created and all the great memories being made while traveling. He also offers a training course to help others get out of debt. The Secret Ingredient
I could go on and on with another dozen or more examples with folks like Chris Guillebeau, Corbett Barr, Karol Gajda, and many more. I think we have enough, however, to take a good, solid look at the “secret ingredient” commonality that exists amongst these Nomads.
It’s true that they all travel the world, enjoy some lifestyle design of their own, but what enables them to step outside the box of your normal 9 to 5… (dare I say it?)…job? Between finances, limited vacation time, career and family responsibilities, most people can only dream of travelling the world. How can these Nomads swing it?
One word… Tribes.
Tribes are the lifeblood of the internet, they are the catalysts of change, and they are the means of income for many tribe leaders, including the aforementioned Nomads.
Organizing communities of raving fans, followers, subscribers, and/or friends has some incredible benefits…
one of which is that the community is always willing to pay for something of value and interest like training materials, ebooks, membership sites, artwork and other such premium content. Once properly organized, a well built tribe can offer opportunities for passive, residual income, which will ultimately enable the tribe leader to disconnect from a trading time for money type of income model (aka job).
Even more importantly then the income benefit, though, is the reach, influence, and leverage that the tribe can provide to a movement of change, to make a real difference in people’s lives and our world.
Seth Godin made the term Tribes popular with his book published in 2008, “Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us”. I’ll leave you with a video of Seth explaining “Why You Need A Tribe”. My hope is that you will be inspired by the Nomads and by Seth Godin who is looking for the world changers to step up and start leading their tribes.
