How to Tell If You Are Addicted to Travel

By Natalie Sisson ·

Heads up: this post is from 2013. The ideas hold up, but some tools, prices and links will have moved on since. For Natalie’s current work, head to NatalieSisson.com.

How to Tell If You Are Addicted to Travel

Think of your most memorable travel adventure.

The sights you saw, the cool people that you met, and the amazing food that you got to try.

I can guarantee that these will make your top 5  ‘awesome things I’ve experienced list’ every time. In fact, if you’ve travelled regularly, you’ll know how addictive it can really get.

But where do you draw the line between travel for pleasure and never-ending travel adventures?

As a digital nomad, who is constantly flitting about the world and with no home base, people are always intrigued as to how I live this kind of lifestyle.

I get asked the following two questions the most:

1.) Do you think you’ll ever stop traveling?

2.) Do you think that you’re addicted to travel?

(Those and how can you possibly fit everything you own into a suitcase?)

Are You Addicted to Travel?

In today’s video, I share how traveling nonstop has affected my business and my life, and the type of traveling that I’m tending towards.

Oh, and at the end, you get to see what happens when I need to run my biz and there’s no wifi around….

My No. 1 tip for figuring out if the suitcase lifestyle is for you:

Really evaluate your personality and honestly ask yourself, how much travel do I want to do and what type of travel suits me most?

It seems simple, but many people overlook asking themselves these questions before they set out on their travels, and then realise they’re not cut out for a life on the road.

You need to choose the type of travel that fits in with your preferences and tolerances for risk, culture, language, food, climate and other important factors.

I cover this in detail in my Suitcase Entrepreneur book (due out this August) and will be sharing more tips on the blog and in my video series.
