Black Friday is somewhat of a phenomenon for those of us who didn’t grow up in the USA or Canada. Apparently it’s now extending to the UK and Australia.
For one day of the year, people go absolutely nuts for specials that happen the day after Thanksgiving, and it indicates the start of Christmas shopping.
In fact, if you’re smart you’ll get all your Christmas shopping done today. I guess that’s why people line up, hours in advance (like at Best Buy), to make the most of crazy silly deals between the hours of 4am (or earlier).
Apparently a security guard got killed at Walmart a few years ago when they opened the doors to the public stampede during a Black Friday event. That’s how insane this day is over here.
It’s odd to think while I was sleeping, people all over America were ensuring that businesses go out of the red and into the black in the space of around 12 hours.
Yes, Black Friday ultimately ensures a struggling business will survive.
