20 Best of the Best

Holla. This is the first in the series of a monthly `Best of the Best’ of the intewebs related to making you a more awesome online business builder and lifestyler.

In a nutshell, each month me and my team here at the Suitcase Entrepreneur will combine 20 of the best resources we believe you’ll love – a compilation of articles you must read, videos you want to watch, photos that inspire, and key updates on cool tools and social media that will leave you moving and shaking.

This month we’re focusing on online marketing and killer content so you can become more strategic with your online presence, content creation and promotions.

Must Read Articles

Wondering why you’re not attracting your ideal customer? Elena from PR in Your Pajamas tells you the one question you can ask to change that in this article.

Want to know the one thing that’s incredibly dangerous for online marketers that you need to understand? Read it here on Copyblogger.

Ooooh, and then there’s this article from Michael Costigan of Young Entrepreneur about how to approach direct selling when you have no marketing budget.

Brilliant Podcasts

We’ve been learning a ton from Amy Porterfield’s Online Marketing Made Easy podcast. You’ll love her latest 3-part series on using Facebook marketing to gain leads. It will make you up your game. Seriously. Start here with this episode (And subscribe on iTunes because she always has the juiciest content.)Screen Shot 2013-05-18 at 10.49.30 AM

And listen to Chris Ducker’s New Business Podcast episode 13 with Darren Rowse of Problogger. They chat about blogging for business, but they dive into lots of valuable tips on marketing your blog posts too – obviously.

Must Watch Videos

Learn five awesome steps to outsourcing your video marketing from the main man James Wedmore (which is actually part 3 of a 5 part series on outsourcing that you’ll really dig).

Then, there’s this great video interview with Marie Forleo and Ramit Sethi to remind you what really makes marketing work and how to get your product to sell.

And if you want to optimize your email marketing (and you should!), tune in on this episode of Young Female Entrepreneur Chat with Jen Donogh interviewing Julie Gora of Mailchimp!

Top Online Tools

Screen Shot 2013-05-18 at 10.47.52 AMClarity is an online resource that connects you to successful entrepreneurs from all over Canada and the US.

You get targeted advice on whatever you wish for a really low price. (Shout out to John Dumas over at Entrepreneur on Fire for spreading the word about this through his podcast!)

Have you tried Stitcher Radio yet? If you love podcasts, you’ll love this mobile app that lets you choose your favorite podcasts and helps you stitch together others that you might like.

(PS. The Suitcase Entrepreneur Podcast just started broadcasting from Stitcher Radio! Follow it here.)

Then, there’s this neat Gmail plugin called Yesware (props to Neil Patel at Quick Sprout for letting us in on this tool) that lets you see who has opened your email so you can confidently follow up with them.

Plus, it lets you schedule reminders for follow up emails and create and use templates.

This pinterest board on free travel and biz advice for the suitcase entrepreneur curated by yours truly is worth a look!

Check out this infographic with 30 ways to promote your blog post on this board from Marketing for Breakfast – which always serves up useful content.

Wanting some new great reads? You’ll get a lot from this beautifully design and focused book Lovemarks which I first read 4 years ago – great branding advice in particular.

Scott Stratten and his book Unmarketing have been recommended to me time and time again for enhancing your marketing savvy – and he’s a straight up guy you can learn a lot from.

Random Goodness

This guide from the marketing masters over at Hubspot on conducting a marketing audit is brilliant and super valuable.

Make some time, and dive into making the resource game-changing for your marketing strategy.Screen Shot 2013-05-18 at 10.53.49 AM

Enjoy this simple reminder from Seth Godin to help you reevaluate what path you’re on. (And did you see that applications are open for his summer internship? Apply!)

Oh, and I love this funny picture from Hugh Macleod on what most marketing ends up being these days.

Plus, this has very little to do with online marketing, but it’s a pretty cool contest for a suitcase entrepreneur and you might win a $1,000 round trip ticket to anywhere you want from Torre over at The Fearful Adventurer.
