This story is one of several being published over the next 100 days to celebrate the $100 Change program and inspire you to take action.
I am the co-founder of Live Well 360 with my husband, Ryan, and we make kickass premium fitness and yoga bags, inspired by our own search for the perfect gym bag.
Right about now, Live Well 360 is hitting its tipping point. We are one of “those” companies that seem to have become an overnight success.
I can assure you, it’s been far from overnight, and yet I cherish every moment of our climb. I probably wouldn’t have said the same in the heat of some of our biggest challenges, but looking back it’s a lot easier to see the sweetness of those character-building lessons now.
I can also see how our willingness to welcome serious change has been a catalyst of our success.
Even before Live Well 360, without really knowing what we were doing, we were setting ourselves up to steer our lives by our core values of freedom, fulfillment, and fun.
In 2008, I left my corporate position because I couldn’t stand one more day of working at a job that left me feeling so unfulfilled. We then sold our house, moved in with family, Ryan left his position, and within 6 months, we moved across the country, fulfilling our dream to live in Southern California… without much more of a plan than a friend’s house to land at when we got there.
In the midst of this, we started Live Well 360 as a blog where we shared our story of getting healthy and fit. I lost 35 pounds and Ryan lost over 80 pounds and we both had this burning desire to share the lessons we had learned along the way.
Yet something still felt like it was missing.
We wanted to create a physical product for serious fitness peeps like ourselves. So, after a year and a half of research and design, we launched the first bag in our line, called the Core.
Since then, we’ve expanded the line to include two more bags, each with its own unique purpose. The line has been featured in top fitness publications including Oxygen Magazine, Men’s Health, Experience Life Magazine, and on Livestrong.com to name a few.
Many people will tell you that success requires massive action. For sure, action is required, but rather than massive action, I think it’s inspired action that’s necessary.
In order to be successful, you have to have faith in something—whether that is faith in God, the Universe, your Intuition—you have to trust that you are being guided and that you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
If you would have sat me down back in 2008 and said, “Listen Sheila, here are all the things that you are going to need to do between now and 2012… start figuring it out,” I would have crawled in bed under the covers and never left.
I learned as I went along and I was open to serious change because I knew that as long as I followed my heart and listened to my gut, things would just work out.
